A Content Management System (CMS) is a term used to describe a website product which allows end users the ability to login and make changes to the content of the website themselves. While there are some great CMS products on the market such as WordPress or Joomla, we find that these products are clunky, slow, not search engine friendly and lock away the ability for a designer to explore the limits of what can be achieved aesthetically.
The standard CMS products are also extremely vulnerable to threat of attack from hackers. The reason why the standard CMS platforms are so vulnerable to these attacks is because when your website utilises these programs, it has to take on the entire platform, of which you'll typically use no more than 5% of the features the entire platform allows. This leaves 95% of the CMS system you are using left ignored, but they are still there as doorways to full control of your website. Hackers target these doorways to probe for vulnerabilities and when they identify weaknesses, they have identified weaknesses on every other CMS website that uses that platform.

Dixon Homes Cairns are the leading volume builder in Cairns and wanted to be able to manage their house and land packages internally. We designed some responsive tiles as a visual template which contains the images and text the client wanted to display and then custom programmed a .php backend interface where the client can login to the website and make controlled changes to the house and land packages. Another cool feature of this website development project is a custom coded pdf brochure generator which uses the same house and land packages content and rearranges it into a printable pdf brochure.

Here, they can showcase their best selling items through the online store sections of their website. We developed a custom backend for the Cairns Bulk Meats website which allows them to perform a variety of tasks. From managing their specials by logging in and changing prices and quantities to popullating their own catalogue of specialised products for sale. For example, on their Meat Packs page they have a set of tiles with an image, title, description and price field. This website has a 'browse our range' section which is a catalogue organised in sub sections that showcase information and images about their products. All of this is entered into the site from a secure backend and the client can add as many products as they want.
